cfo.ai vs CFO Pal

cfo.ai's AI, called Ari, reads your ledger, banking and payroll and builds financial models and scenarios inside its own workspace, without ever writing back to your books. That last part is a discipline we share. Everything else about it (the price, the buyer it's built for, and what you're expected to do with it) is a different product.

Where cfo.ai is the better fit

If you already have, or are building, a finance function, a startup with real headcount to plan, multiple systems to consolidate, and someone whose job is to build financial models. cfo.ai is built for exactly that. Its Growth and Enterprise plans cover up to eight standard integrations and premium connections into ERPs and data warehouses, priced for a business that can justify $1,125 a month or more on a finance tool alone.

Where CFO Pal differs

CFO Pal is built for the far more common case: an SME with no finance team at all, running Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, that needs someone watching the numbers rather than a workspace to build models in. There is nothing to configure. Connect your accounting platform and your dashboard fills the same day; your first written brief lands the Monday after. cfo.ai starts a conversation when you open it and ask; CFO Pal starts one every Monday morning and the day something moves, whether or not you log in.

The two also answer different questions about your sector. cfo.ai does not publish UK peer benchmarking. CFO Pal compares your business against Companies House peer quartiles and published UK figures, every one sourced and dated, which matters more to a UK SME than another integration into a data warehouse it will never use.

On price, honestly

cfo.ai's Startup plan is $375 a month billed annually ($500 month-to-month), rising to $1,125 for Growth. CFO Pal is £199/month + VAT. If your business genuinely needs 600+ integrations, a model-building workspace and multiple workspaces for a growing finance team, that price buys real capability we do not offer. If what you need is a CFO layer that reads your books and tells you what changed without you having to build anything, that is what CFO Pal is priced for.

Whichever tool you compare it to

What CFO Pal does differently

Set cfo.ai aside for a moment. Five things are true of CFO Pal against every product on this list, and each one is enforced by a test in our own code rather than by a sentence on a page.

It only ever reads. We connect to Xero, QuickBooks or Sage and never write anything back. Our job is interpretation, not bookkeeping, so there is nothing we could break in your ledger.

The AI is not allowed to do arithmetic. Every figure it quotes is calculated first from your accounting data and handed to the model as fact. An answer containing a monetary figure that is not already in that data fails our test suite.

If the numbers do not reconcile, it says nothing. Before any AI output is written, we check that the balance sheet balances, that the profit and loss agrees with the ledger, and that cash bridges from one month to the next. If a check fails, the model is not called and you are told why, rather than handed a confident figure that is wrong.

It starts the conversation. A written brief lands every Monday and an alert arrives the day something moves, whether or not you log in. A dashboard waits to be opened. A finance director does not.

Xero, QuickBooks and Sage are treated the same. Every check runs on every platform, so a business with two companies on two systems, or a firm with a mixed client base, gets one way of working.

Every figure is checked against your ledger before it is shown

Feature by feature

cfo.ai shares our discipline of never writing back to your books. The difference is scale and audience: a configurable finance workspace for a funded startup, against a CFO layer that works out of the box for a business with nobody to configure it.
